| John Martinson Class of 1967 (Passed Away on July 22nd, 2004) Junior Year Picture I really have very fond memories of Verdugo Hills High. I was in the summer class of 1967 even though I left Verdugo to attend No. Hollywood High in my senior year, I consider VHHS to be my High School alumni. I had a close circle of friends back then, most of whom I'm still in touch with. Off and on during high school I went with Linda Monteverde who was in the fall class. We both had a very close friend of the class of 1966 named Margie Jones. I really would be interested if any of you know where life took both Linda and Margie? After High School I got my first apartment and full time job working for Gallenkamp Shoes. I thought I was really set, that was until about four months later I received my greeting's from Uncle Sam. At that time they were drafting in every branch of the service except the Air Force. I had an uncle that was a high ranking officer in the Air Force that had tried to talk me into enlisting in the A. F. But at 19 years old you think the draft will never happen to me, (at least I did) but because I received my draft notice good ole uncle could not get me in the A. F., but he did pull a few strings to get me in the Navy one day before I was to be drafted in the Marine's. So I did my time and when I got out I returned to school. I went to college full time, worked part time. This schedule did not work well for me for very long after all this was the groovy seventies. After having a lot of useless fun ha ha, I met my future wife Sheryll. After going together for a little bit over a year we married, and on Nov. 24, 03 we will have been married for thirty years. This is something we both are really proud of, as when we first were married we hung out with nine different couples. We are the only couple still married. Sheryll blessed me with a son in 1980, his name is Jason. I have to say no parents could be more proud. Jason has never given us on once of grief. As far as my work life went, I worked for United Parcel Service for 28 years. From 1989 to 1992 the company paid for me to go back to college on my off time and I received my MBA in 1992 in Marketing. I took an early retirement in 2001, and retired as a Senior Executive. For the last nineteen years we have lived in Granada Hills, CA. Towards the middle of 2004 we hope to move, the problem is that we just don't know where to move at this time. I can tell you we are open to idea's. My hobbies are boating, traveling, reading, and until a recent back injury golfing and tennis. One of my biggest interest is music. I collect music mainly from the 60's. I also collect memorabilia from that era as well. We have a downstairs' den that I've made into a memorabilia room. Looks a lot like a Hard Rock Cafe. I guess that pretty much sums it up in a nutshell, so to speak. I would love to hear from any of you, and hopefully will.
