Hi Everyone,  Here's my life story so far ....

 After graduation in 1967, I enlisted in the US Coast Guard and was stationed in Florida for a year.  My remaining three years in the Coast Guard were spent in San Francisco. Other duty stations were considered temporary duty assignments from there, and they were some very interesting ones involving jungles, bugs, guns and such.

After I was discharged, I bummed around the Bay Area for about a year before I heard of an opening with the Sheriff's Department in Winnemucca, Nevada. I eventually became a Deputy Sheriff. I was there for about four years and then moved on to the Elko, NV Police Department for another ten years. Due to some lingering injuries that made police work increasingly painful, I landed a job with a gold mine in central Nevada where I was their Security Manager for approx. 8 years. The mine closed down due to low gold prices (and no more gold!). I was laid-off for two years and was only able to get part-time jobs during that period.

Eventually, on a lark, I took the entry test for the US Postal Service and after three years, I am now the Postmaster in Gabbs, Nevada. Gabbs is in central Nevada about 60 miles southeast from Fallon, NV. 

During my stint as a Deputy Sheriff, I wrote a speeding ticket to Ula Munro who later became my wife. We have been married for 23 years and have no children, although we have been host parents to exchange students from Norway, Germany, Switzerland, Hong Kong, and Brazil. This year we will have two girls from Norway and Germany living in our home in Eureka,NV.

My wife, Ula (pronounced: yoo-la) is the Court Clerk for the Eureka Justice Court and lives full-time in Eureka. I live during my work-week in Gabbs and travel home on my days off. I hope to be able to transfer to Eureka in the next year or two as Postmaster.

During the fall of 1998, Ula and I traveled to Europe to visit some of our "kids." We went to Holland, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland and Austria. We visited several cities in the former East German Republic.  Europe is so beautiful! I encourage everyone to do it at least once! We stayed with our "kid's" families, so our expense was less than $400 including airfare! If anyone is interested in hosting an exchange  student, call 1-800-44-SHARE.  Tell them I referred you!

College came through correspondence courses and after several years I got my degree (yea, me!)
